Foster Care Placement & Social Services

In addition to providing long-term care for abandoned and sick children and children with disabilities, Heart of a Child plays a pivotal role in identifying suitable foster care families for children throughout Galati. 

Social workers are intimately involved in the lives of all our beneficiaries including abandoned children and those infected with HIV/AIDS.

In addition to working in Heart of a Child’s apartments, our team of social workers collaborates with local government and currently tracks individual cases of over 800 children.  Since 1996, our team has helped place more than 75 children in foster care families.

The staff also conducts frequent site visits and provides counseling services to individual at-risk children and their families. Children also attend our Open Day Centers where they receive daily tutoring from staff and volunteers, supplementary school lessons and the opportunity to play and grow in a healthy, constructive environment.
