«Andiana» Kindergarten in Cudalbi
In 2004, Heart of a Child united with SERA Romania, the Galati County School Inspectorate and the local town hall in the village of Cudalbi to launch the “Andiana” Kindergarten. This unique Day Center was designed to provide structure and support to more than two dozen children with special needs who had been deinstitutionalized and placed with foster families by Heart of a Child.
The kindergarten provides daily educational activities, occupational therapy and art therapy to help promote children’s cognitive, language and communication skills. Caregivers are given special training in working with individuals with severe disabilities and each beneficiary has a specially designed personal rehabilitation and social integration plan.
Providing a constructive outlet for these special children remains a primary and continuing objective for Heart of a Child. Our programming is not only unique in the region, but helps battle entrenched stigma and misunderstandings surrounding individuals with disabilities while helping them to develop valuable life skills.
